The Grapefruit Diet Review
"The basic idea that The Grapefruit Diet revolves around is that you should be eating as much grapefruit as humanly possible"
The Grapefruit Diet is another ultimate fad diet that was really popular back during the 1980’s, although it apparently has been around since the earlier 1930’s. Throughout time The Grapefruit Diet has been heavily discounted by weight loss experts, with some citing the diet as dangerously unbalanced and many say the diet is unable to deliver what it promises.
Consuming a large amount of grapefruit sounds like a ridiculous way to lose a few pounds, however, for some reason The Grapefruit Diet become hugely popular thus upgrading its status to fad diet. Interestingly enough as time passed on it has actually came to light that there may some some truth in the hypothesis that eating grapefruit can help you lose weight.
The basic idea that The Grapefruit Diet revolves around is that you should be eating as much grapefruit as humanly possible. This involves eating the fruit, drinking grapefruit juice before meals, adding the juice to your cooking and to salads. Grapefruit can go well with lean meats such as chicken, seafood and goes well with vegetables such as celery, spinach and spanish onions. The thing about grapefruits is that the have very few calories and are 99.9% fat free. Eating an entire grapefruit would give you around 72 calories. This means that you could eat as much grapefruit as you could possibly fit into your stomach and you would still lose weight.
It is interesting to point out that The Grapefruit Diet has recently undergone some studies which were carried out by a group of scientists in San Diego. Doctor Ken Fujioka from the Nutrition and Metabolic Research Center found that although the diet sounded crazy, adding grapefruit to your diet may actually help with weight loss. Without significantly changing your diet.
According to the study, eating a half a grapefruit right before eating a main meal coupled with exercise everyday, helped a group of obese people shed 3.6 pounds in 12 weeks. This is without changing anything else about there eating habits. Now of course I’m not to sure if this really proves anything.
Losing 1 pound per month really gives a new meaning to the term “slow dieting”. Whether it was the grapefruit that helped or the exercises that helped these people lose weight. I believe that there are a lot more effective ways to lose weight out there. I mean people want to look good for summer, this summer not in 3 years time.
